Video game cinematics at Novi Sad Film Festival
This year, the Novi Sad Film Festival takes place from September 18th to 22nd. What is new is that the competition section will also include the Game Cinematics category. The cinematics were chosen by Leon Aksin, Associate Professor at the Animation and Visual Effects department at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, whose animated films have been screened at film festivals across Europe, and won the award for the best animated film at the Swindon Film Festival in Great Britain.
The program consists of SCUM (2018) from Croatia, The Bornless (TBA) from the UK, the Polish game Dying Light 2 Stay Human (2022), as well as the Polish-Swedish title Exoborne (TBA) and the Polish-American Resident Evil Village (2021). We are thrilled that cinematics from our members’ games will be shown: Let Bions Be Bygones, released in April by Bohemian Pulp, and the game that is probably already on your wishlist on Steam, Water Me by Shosha Games.
In addition, a panel will also be held at the festival to discuss cinematics. Tijana Prodanović, Leon Aksin and Đorđe Ilić will be the participants, and the moderator of the panel will be Ivica Milarić.
The Novi Sad Film Festival is international, so in addition to the gaming content, you can also expect to see films produced on four continents, three regional and four national premieres, and much more. This year’s laureate will be the man who is said to have made Superman fly – Zoran Perišić, visual effects director and Oscar winner for technical achievements for Superman – the Movie (1978).
This September promises to be important for gamers, but also for general gaming literacy, keeping in mind that on September 25th, a video game music concert will also be held in Belgrade.
