Indie studio Retromagine has released IGNOBLE on Steam, a brutal 2D roguelite beat 'em up, after the game's public demo was played by 12,000 players and with more than 12,000 pre-release wishlists collected.

Retromagine is an indie video game development studio, creating innovative 2D games in pixel-art style, combining the charm of retro classics with modern gameplay. They are currently working on multiple titles, with the first among them released on August 12, 2026.

IGNOBLE is an incremental game made with the Steam Deck and other handheld consoles in mind, where tyrants have sent their armies to seize the forbidden secrets of this universe. As a player, you swear to protect the one we know as Father. Get ready to tear apart your enemies in deadly close combat and collect their blood and bones to buy new abilities. Through the story, you will discover more about the world and your place in it, and you will fight across multiple timelines revealed as you progress, filled with demanding endurance trials, new enemies and new rules.

"We set out to create a fresh take on the incremental genre by combining it with roguelite elements, blending both to create something unique,” says Marko Bubalo, developer of the game.

Mirko Topalski, Nexus of the studio, shared with us what the release of this game means for Retromagine:

“Retromagine gathers veterans as well as young talent of the local gaming scene. We all share the same dream: to build our own brand and a catalogue that truly belongs to us, giving us the freedom to create the games we want.

IGNOBLE is much more than our first game. It is the first step towards realizing a dream. Working on it, we learned not only how to make a game, but also how to self-publish it and reach players.

In Serbia, there is a lot of knowledge about how games are made, but there is also a lack of experience with the business side and independent publishing. That’s the knowledge we want to build at Retromagine. IGNOBLE is the first opportunity to obtain it in practice, and hopefully just the first of many games we’ll create and release.”

As of today, you can buy IGNOBLE on Steam with a 15% launch discount.
