Belgrade studio Superverse Industries has released a modern version of their game from the early 2000s.

Superverse Industries moved from the demo scene to game dev in 2002, with the first version of the game MONSTA, made for Palm OS. The hardware limitations of the time directly influenced the decision to go turn-based. This legacy remains at the core of the modern edition. The new version of the game faithfully preserves the original mechanics, level design and pixel-art style, but enhances the game with features expected in 2025.

"MONSTA is a bridge between eras," says the game's Designer and Programmer, Nemanja Bondžulić: "It's built with modern tools, but remains true to the constraints, charm and spirit of the Palm OS original.”

New MONSTA include:

  • 50 handcrafted levels recreated from the original version;
  • 10 unique environments and 13 monster types;
  • faithful reinterpretations of the original pixel-art assets;
  • Game Center integration for achievements and progress;
  • in-app purchases for power-ups and level access;
  • support for controllers, keyboard, and mouse;
  • portrait and landscape play on iPhone and iPad.

Join Joe in a battle against pesky little monsters, where every move counts, so think ahead, plan smartly and outwit your enemies. The only way to survive is to use your wits and devise the perfect strategy.

If this sounds interesting to you, download the game on App Store-u, Mac App Store-u or Apple TV-u.

This was one of over 80 games being made in Serbia in recent years. We can’t wait for the rest to come out!
