SGA Insights: Is Marketing All About Budget?

On marketing and budgeting from the CEO of the French company Racoon Business

How to promote a game on Steam without a big budget or no budget? What free or low-budget marketing strategies really get results? And how to smartly plan marketing costs during game development? These questions will be the focus of the next SGA Insights, which is intended primarily for developers who want to better understand how to present their game to the public. Through an overview of specific tools, techniques and examples from practice, participants will receive useful guidelines for more effective marketing, while additional data and analyses will provide interesting insight to those who are already professionally engaged in marketing.

It is our great pleasure to digitally host the CEO of Racoon Business, Mylène Lourdel, and connect SGA members with this French expert in marketing, PR and influencer strategies.

Racoon Business supports self-publishing indie studies. Unlike a publisher, this marketing and business company does not charge fixed fees but instead contributes to the game’s success by taking a share of the net income. They help with marketing, biz dev and distribution, and their goal is to make the studios themselves key players in their marketing strategy.

Hence, this edition of SGA Insights represents an alternative to the previous one, which focused on marketing through publishers. Bearing in mind that a significantly higher percentage of Serbian studios independently publish their games (see the report for 2024), this type of cooperation can help raise the success of self-published games to a higher level.

This online session will begin with Mylène‘s presentation Is marketing all about budget? Mylène will present low-cost or free marketing strategies for promoting your game on Steam and share tips for effectively planning your marketing expenses.

The second half of the session is a Q & A segment, so get your questions ready!

IMPORTANT: This event is for SGA members only.

This edition of SGA Insights is part of the Game Caravan project, which is realized in collaboration with the French Institute.
