The lecture will provide an overview of the importance and perception of games throughout human history, with a look at the historical development and place that some games have in popular culture (directly and through transmedia), from the first tabletop RPGs and arcade pioneers, to modern PC MOBAs and mobile games. How and why we like to play, what games bring us and how computer games have changed the world we live in.
Although the Playing Narratives program is aimed at young creatives entering the video game industry, as they will be working on their own, collaborative game concepts, they must have insights into market trends, genre specifics, player and user profiles, marketing approaches and numerous other aspects of the production and exploitation of a product such as a video game.
Dušan Žica, a creative strategist with rich marketing experience, as well as concrete projects in the domain of indie or mobile video games, and more recently in the blockchain/NFT domain, will share his insights with the participants, but also provide them with advice for project work in this cycle, given that was the lead mentor for the teams during the premier edition of Playing Narratives in 2021.
This program is for Playing Narratives participants only, and is not open to the public. Thank you for your understanding
