The SVI conference, an academic gathering dedicated to video game studies, was held for the first time in Novi Sad in 2021. Starting this year, it will be held alternately in Serbia and Poland.

The only Serbian academic conference dedicated to video games, SVI (Video Game Studies)is moving to Casimir the Great University in Bydgoszcz, Poland, this December. From this year, the conference will be held once every two years in Novi Sad at the Academy of Arts, while in the year when it is not here, it will happen in Poland.

The fourth edition of the SVI conference takes place on December 1 and 2, and the program can be followed live, while part of it is also available online. The link for online access to the event will be posted on the conference website a few days earlier.

This year, the conference returns to game design and game analysis. Game design studies involve combining the theory and analysis of video games with real game design, present in industrial practice. Hence, game design will be examined from the perspective of both theory and practice, its historical development, current challenges and related theoretical frameworks.

At the conference, individual titles will also be analyzed in more detail, either through a gameplay approach, from the perspective of narratology or in another way, and game analysis methodologies will also be researched. It will also examine long-term trends in the search for stylistic, authorial and industrial influences that are local in character, typical of a certain geographical area or culture.

The SVI conference, as always, aims to be a bridge between academia and the gaming industry.
