Watch the trailer for Sova, a narrative roguelike game from an indie studio in Niš
Entropic Island is a small indie team that has already published one title and received the Creative Europe MEDIA grant. They are now working on a narrative roguelike game Sova. This game combines fast-paced action with the storytelling typical of CRPGs. As the titular Sova, you navigate the dangerous, ever-changing landscape of Conjecture, fighting, exploring and uncovering the layered mysteries of this world. Each run offers a new opportunity to craft a unique build and experiment with an ever-growing arsenal of abilities and skills.
The game combines hand-drawn pixel art with modern VFX, and the resulting striking style is now available for your eyes:
On the occasion of the release of the announcement trailer, Steam page and a new website, we wanted to hear the impressions of the studio’s Game Director, Saša Veličković:
“Sova is a categorically more complex and ambitious game in every way, but its action part draws its roots from Lawbringer and everything we learned from that small, experimental title. I think the biggest challenge for us was balancing experimentation and ‘finding the game’ on the one hand and, on the other, creating content through which we could validate those learnings. Unlike Lawbringer, which begins and ends in a combat arena, Sova needs to offer a full spectrum of experiences, challenges and emotions, while remaining a coherent whole. I think we’re on the right track, but we still have a lot of work to do.
I can safely say that the Creative Europe MEDIA grant was essential for what Sova is today. The game would probably exist in a more pared-down and less ambitious form, but the fact is that the grant removed a large part of the financial risk and allowed us to fully retain our vision for the game.
We’ve collected over 650 wishlists in a week, which, according to the statistics we’ve looked at, indicates a solid start. A good portion of the wishlists came from the audience on IGN’s GameTrailers channel, where our trailer has garnered over 6,000 views. It’s an interesting feeling when your trailer is right next to Borderlands 4. 🙂 But even so, it seems like we have a lot of organic interest, as a significant percentage of our traffic comes through Steam and aggregators. The comments are positive and it seems like players are responding well to what they see. What we need to do better is reach out to the larger news portals and gaming media.”
It’s time for a wishlist on Steam so you can grab a front-row seat to hear about the game’s publication in 2026.
