We’re looking for someone with a strong artistic eye, technical understanding, and passion for creating impactful, stylized, and magical VFX that elevate the player experience.
What You’ll Do
- Create real-time visual effects for gameplay abilities, creatures, scripted events, and environments
- Help define and maintain the visual identity, style, and feel of different VFX categories and abilities
- Collaborate closely with other departments to support game feature development
- Develop and iterate on shaders using node-based tools or scripting languages (e.g. HLSL or equivalent)
- Take ownership of assigned VFX features from concept through implementation and polish
- Optimize effects for performance while maintaining high visual quality across platforms
- Contribute to improving workflows, tools, and overall VFX pipeline quality
Requirements
- Strong portfolio showcasing real-time VFX, preferably with stylized or magical character effects
- Solid understanding of VFX principles: timing, animation, color, composition, and gameplay readability
- Strong technical knowledge of VFX workflows (textures, meshes, shaders, tools, and implementation)
- Experience creating a variety of VFX types for gameplay and environmental contexts
- At least one shipped PC or Console title (mid-level production experience required)
- Advanced knowledge of at least one DCC tool (Maya, Blender, Houdini, or similar)
- Comfortable working within production constraints and iterative development cycles
- Based in Europe or able to work within European time zones
- Professional written and spoken English

- Experience working in co-development or external partner environments
- Experience with 2D effects animation or hand-drawn textures
- Exposure to large-scale production pipelines
- Houdini/Substance/Maya/Embergen experience
- Experience with 2D effects animation or hand-drawn textures
- Previous experience working with complex character animations or real-time cutscenes
- Knowledge of fluid simulations and the ability to create your own smoke and fire textures
