Level design has always been the fundamental part of the Game Development industry. It dictates the pace, creates a challenge, and makes the best use of gameplay mechanics available. Level designers are expected to always challenge themselves when creating gameplay spaces and go above and beyond in crafting the most pleasing experience for the players.
As a Level Designer in Ubisoft Belgrade, you will be involved in all development stages of a project while working closely with Level and Technical Artists, Leads and Directors in order to create levels while staying in the game’s rules, mechanics, and logic. You will shape the game under the close supervision of your Lead Level Designer and the Level Design Directors, in order to create experiences that elicit the desired emotions.
Your main mission:
- Conceptualization of levels/maps/missions while following the Design Director’s vision and what part your level plays in the overall game experience
- Understand the technical constraints under which you need to operate and validate your designs in order to ensure the level’s feasibility
- Plan, prototype, execute and iterate on the levels that are assigned to you while staying in close contact with the other job families such as level art, narrative design and game design
- Use the available tools in order to shape your assigned levels and provide support visuals for them
- Work on fixing the bugs Dev Testers discover and log
