Public call for a supercluster pilot programme – an opportunity for accelerated development of the Serbian gaming ecosystem

The Serbia Innovates project has announced a public call for participation in a superclusters pilot program aimed at the accelerated development of the four most promising domains in the field of technological innovation, including gaming environments. Applications are open until February 28.

The goal of the Serbia Innovates project is to improve the competitiveness and innovation of the Serbian economy, using a globally proven supercluster model. This model is based on bringing together actors from different stakeholder groups of the innovation ecosystem in specific areas with great potential, in a way that emphasizes cooperation on joint innovative projects of a commercial nature.

Several months of research have shown that there are four most promising domains in Serbia in the field of technological innovation: Web3 and blockchain technologies, high technology in agriculture and food industry, advanced solutions in medical technology and biotechnology, and what pleased us most – gaming environment and virtual reality.

According to the official website of the project, there is a very active gaming ecosystem in Serbia and a developed community, the fantastic successes of ours and the arrival of large global companies have set this domain apart from the rest of the IT industry. The recognition by Startup Genome for the third year in a row is a confirmation that the focus on this area can further strengthen domestic capacity to create new globally competitive video games.

The call is intended for a consortium of organizations that want to engage in the formation of the Serbian innovation supercluster in one of the chosen areas, and can consist of mature companies, startups, representatives of the academic community, innovation ecosystem support organizations, specialized companies and other actors whose experience can contribute to the formation of the strongest possible consortium. The complete guide for the public call can be found here, and the deadline for submitting the application is February 28, 2022.
