Belgrade’s UNREAL DAY is undoubtedly becoming the meeting point for the Unreal Engine communities from the SEE region and beyond. Professionals from various digital creative disciplines, developers, students and all interested artists and engineers from the entire region will be able to attend WORKSHOPS, MASTERCLASSES (powered by Ebb Software), as well as KEYNOTE & SHOWCASE lectures (powered by Mad Head Games) in the domain of game art and computer graphics, game development, virtual production, animation, architecture, production of 3d assets, “digital twins” technology and even – opera.
On Thursday, October 26th at mts Dvorana, this all-day “festival” dedicated to UE will present prominent guests to the local and regional audience, including representatives of the French studio Albyon specialized in VR/AR experiences, who worked on the VR version of the animated film Wallace and Gromit – The Grand Getaway, as well as on several projects that were presented at Tribeca or the Venice Film Festival (Monstrorama, Empereur). They will be represented by Axel Barrois and Mathieu Rous de Madinhac, while from Spain arrives Natalia Torres, certified UE instructor who leads the virtual production team at Magic Fennec. Rocco Scandizzo, Head of strategy for UE games at Epic Games, will talk about the ways in which the company supports today’s digital creators.
The Keynote & Showcase program will touch on very different topics and present as many as 11 projects and studios working on exciting projects in Serbia using the Unreal Engine. Artists, developers and filmmakers representing 3 Lateral, Epic Games, Ebb Software, Mad Head Games, Ydrive Lav Games, Case 3D, International Red Cross, 84 Frames or Shosha Games will all appear on stage.
Nikola Silić, an animator known for the animated series ELITA, will share his experiences from the first cycle of the Unreal Fellowship program in Novi Sad. Composer Olga Janković will present an opera in which MetaHuman technology is used, and there will be Dane Blačić, who just a week ago won the prestigious Emmy award for the “digital twin” project of Washington’s Capitol Hill.
In addition to numerous lectures, Unreal Day reinforces its educational mission through masterclasses and workshops, a total of 9 sessions where beginners and advanced users of UE and other 3D graphics tools can improve their skills by working with experienced mentors from the industry, focusing on specific topics and case studies. But that’s not the end either! Artists involved in the production of 3D assets will have the opportunity to present their projects to the members of the Package Development Interactive team, one of the leading domestic companies working in this domain and present on the global market. For the ASSET PORTFOLIO REVIEW, you can bring your files or work projects, and get useful advice from experienced technical artists from the PackDev team.
They also provide prizes for the winners of UNREAL JAM, the regional game jam which takes place between October 10 and 20 and includes teams from six countries. The three best teams will present their pitches on the stage of the mts Dvorana, in front of the audience and an international jury that will choose the best project.
Unreal Day 2023 is supported by companies EBB Software & Mad Head Games. Like the Unreal Engine itself, all Unreal Day programs are completely free with registration, and will be presented in English. Places are limited for all workshops and masterclasses.
