The futuristic blue Danube – final presentations of the fourth Playing Narratives cycle

The fourth cycle of the Playing Narratives program brought us seven original game concepts! After eight months of lectures, teamwork and exercises, the teams had the opportunity to present their ideas in front of an expert jury at the final event. From zero experience in the gaming industry to serious public appearances - it's been a pleasure to watch their impressive progress.

This year, the participants of the Playing Narratives program reminded us how much undiscovered talent there is in the industry! They come with fresh ideas, are not afraid to try new approaches and rely on well-tested practices, which tells us that they are not only creative but also have a flair for business. The winning pitch - Odes to Istros

In the distant future, Europe is on the brink of collapse. Against his will, the famous ship captain is tasked by the leading powers to transfer a mysterious cargo container from one end of the Danube to the other, in order to prevent the destruction of the entire continent.

Faced with the depletion of Earth’s natural resources, Aiden and Aurora leave the planet in search of a solution. However, a plane malfunction leaves them stuck in the space between reality and a dream where they must find each other and regain their memories of what they lost.

In a world without nature - Forgotten Roots

What if the fate of nature depends on someone who never even knew of its existence? In a dystopian future, a transhumanist ideology has taken over the world, resulting in the prohibition and extermination of Earth’s nature. Calix, a policeman loyal to the regime, receives a mysterious radio signal that leads him into abandoned underground tunnels, where he discovers the last living plant. Moved by its beauty, he decides to protect and revive the natural world, even though it means rebelling against the system to which he is so loyal.

A moral dilemma - Catalyst

After humanity pushes Earth to the brink of destruction in its pursuit of Progress, a biomechanical AI entity emerges from the depths and punishes their hubris. The main character, a young man who grew up in an ivory tower, embarks on a journey to reach the oppressor of humanity and discuss the future of Earth.
