Steam has recently been enriched with the sequel to one of the most successful indie games created in Serbia. If you liked Tavern Master by Untitled Studio, you'll be happy to play its blacksmith spin-off!

Untitled Studio is, in fact, a one-man-band Luka Glavonjić, who achieved huge success with his first game, Tavern Master (if you don’t take our word for it, just take a look here). After a few years of work, it’s time for its sequel – Blacksmith Master!

On the new title, Untitled Studio has teamed up with Hooded Horse, the publisher that helped the game reach 3,500 concurrent players on Steam just a few days after its release. It’s a PC game in which you build your own medieval workshop from the ground up and manage every step of the blacksmithing trade, from sourcing resources to getting the finished product into the hands of customers. Whether you’re forging swords or frying pans, everything has its place in the supply and demand chain in a game that’s cozy in a completely unusual way.

"I'm very happy so far! 😀 According to early statistics, we managed to surpass Tavern Master by about 20%, even though Tavern Master was released during the corona pandemic, when everyone was staying home and there were few new games," says the game's creator, Luka Glavonjić.

After the chaos of the launch had settled down a bit, we asked Luka to share his impressions:

„I’m very happy so far! 😀 According to early statistics, we managed to surpass Tavern Master by about 20%, even though Tavern Master was released during the corona pandemic, when everyone was staying home and there were few new games.

Since the two games are very similar in terms of mechanics and even share a large part of the code, working on the new title was just a natural extension of what had already been done. However, it is interesting that I made more mistakes with Blacksmith than with Tavern Master. I finished the first game in less than a year, starting from scratch, while I worked on the second one for over two years, and despite that, Tavern Master has 92% positive reviews, while Blacksmith Master has 85%. The market is much different now than it was four years ago.

As for Early Access, the first and foremost thing for me is to see what people actually like and what they don’t like. The biggest criticism right now is that the game is too short and the mechanics aren’t deep enough, so my first goal will be to try to fix that. The current plan is not to be in Early Access for more than a year, but that will be dictated by the sales graph and the general trend of multiple features. Specifically, it remains to be seen what the number of players will look like after one, three, six months, what the average play time will be, what the reviews will be like after various updates, and the like.”

Blacksmith Master is available with a 25% discount until May 29th, so now is a great opportunity to grab your copy!
