After the “kickoff” event where the authors related to the German arthouse games initiative were introduced to our audience and participants A MAZE. / Berlin, the program Playing Narratives begins its second cycle with a series of activities during the month of May.
135 young creatives from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Northern Macedonia, Slovenia and Romania applied for the open call published in March, and 32 of them were selected: 21 from Serbia, 3 from Romania and BiH, and 5 from North Macedonia, with almost half of them girls.
The first workshop is dedicated to the development of an idea into a narrative template and game concept, in line with the theme of this year’s Ideas to Games program. Turning ideas into stories, and stories into video games, sometimes turns out to be much more complicated than it should be. In the creative industries, almost everyone has an idea up their sleeve and, of course, everyone believes they have the best one. So, to start your development process without too many problems, you need to articulate your stories properly and turn them into the basis for a feasible team effort. This is the process that will be the focus of this workshop, which will be held by our experienced narrative designer Mladen Levnajić.
This program is intended exclusively for participants in the Playing Narratives program, and is not open to the public. Thank you for your understanding. The program will continue next week with the first “live” meeting of all participants in Novi Sad, where they will work for three days with numerous lecturers and mentors in the Science and Technology Park Novi Sad.
