As the name of the program implies itself, Playing Narratives is focused on the narrative and creative development of game concepts, and is running now in its second year. Thus, the participants have an opportunity to dwell into different aspects of narrative design, and they have been doing that in 2021 and 2022 through lectures and workshops with the likes of Mladen Levnaić and Dušan Žica, as well as the French experts Cindy Asselin de Beauville, Fibre Tigre or Remy Boicherot.
Armed with his unfortunate insight into the grueling, and oft-misunderstood, duties of a Narrative Designer, Matt Vidaković will attempt to summarize and explain all the many misconceptions and faulty ideas about narrative in games, narrative design and the job of a Narrative Designer in general.
All of this will the the topic of the lecture and Q&A titled NO ONE IS GOING TO READ THAT! – Misconceptions about narrative, which Matt will deliver for the 30+ participants of this year’s program, who are coming from across the Balkan region, and which will be an ideal opener for the second phase of their project work, leading up to the final event scheduled for November 25th, when 8 teams will present their pitches to an international jury.
This program is for Playing Narratives participants only, and is not open to the public. Thank you for your understanding.
