Game Art @Sarajevo

"Amazing graphics!" must be the sentence that gamers say the most. When we say graphics, we mean everything that can be seen in the game, and the Game Art departments and teams work on it. This meetup is dedicated to those topics.

After a phenomenal time in Sarajevo, we are coming back again! SGA is once again going on a tour of the region where, in cooperation with the company Mad Head Games, we are presenting a meetup dedicated to game art. In the heart of Sarajevo, we talk about the diversity of this creative and fulfilling job, regardless of whether you are attracted to AAA/AA, indie or independent work. We will use this event to share information about the Playing Narratives project*** through which young people are introduced to gaming.

At this meetup you will have the opportunity to hear:

  • Playing Narratives and Shift2Games – How to enter the gaming industry? Easier today than before, with the help of regional programs and websites. All about it and how to find help, at the beginning of the meeting.
  • From concept to realization – How does concept art affect game design? – In the design of AA and AAA titles, game artists have to pay attention to many variables. Although often set in fantastic worlds, the characters must behave according to some established laws and logic created by the game creators. We will see how it all fits together through a lecture by Denis Silajdžić from the Sarajevo studio of the company Mad Head Games, which is behind dozens of successful titles.
  • Mysteries of Tech Art: Modern unicorns of the gaming world -We will try to answer the question, what is Tech art? What areas, tools and skills does it cover? The challenges Tech Artists face and how to get closer to one of the most sought-after positions in the industry. The presentation is held by Stefan Cekić from Wargaming Belgrade.
  • Animation in Game Production – We will talk about problems, obstacles, how to solve them and how to get to the final product, the final animation in game production. We will mention tools and software. Also, how to adapt to the industry as an animator and where to draw knowledge and inspiration from. A little about special effects and a little about the use of programming languages in animation. Nikola Đukić, Motion Designer from Playstudios Europe, talks about all of this

Entrance to the meetup is free for everyone, and we invite you to definitely stay with us after the lecture to get to know each other over a drink and continue the conversation about our favorite topic, which is video games. See you at Tershouse. They are now at a new address, so see you at Kolodvorska 12!

*** This year’s program would not be possible without the support of the RECONOMY* project, as well as dedicated partners from the industry – the company 3Lateral as part of Epic Games and the program partner Center for the Promotion of Science (CPN). In addition to them, the Goethe-Institut and the French Institute in Serbia are participating in the project.
